Quest
From Silkroad Addiction Wiki
A quest is a task, or a series of tasks, given to the player by a NPC. Such tasks range from hunting monsters, gathering and/or delivering items, or plainly talking to other NPCs. Completion of a quest rewards the player experience points, skill experience points, gold, and/or items. In other instances, finishing one quest allows the player to unlock and undertake subsequent quests, forming a quest chain.

[edit] Searching for Quests
Aside from the time consuming process of running around town searching for red or gold scrolls floating on NPCs' heads (scrolls explained below), the game offers two ways of looking for a quest:- Quest Notification: Upon reaching a level that allows taking a quest, a scroll icon appears on the top right of the screen, just below the mini-map. Clicking the scroll brings up the Quest Info window that lists all the quests that have just been made available. It should be noted that the listed quests are at the recommended level, not the required level which is ten levels below the recommended level. It should also be noted that the Quest Info page cannot be accessed again after closing it.
- Quest Dictionary: Accessed by opening the Help Window (default H) and clicking the Quest tab, it lists all the quests that have been accomplished as well as the ones that are available. Quests are divided into ten unlabeled categories: China, Western China, Donwhang Stone Cave, Oasis Kingdom, Taklamakan, Europe, Asia Minor, Central Asia, West Asia, and Special Quests. Clicking any of the quests under the categories will display the Related Info, Quest Goal, Related NPC, and Quest Reward. The Quest Dictionary is updated as the player levels.
[edit] Undertaking Quests
To undertake a quest, the player simply needs to talk to a NPC that has a red, yellow, or blue scroll floating above his/her head. The different colors of the scroll indicates deviation from the recommended level to take the quest:
- Red Scroll: appears when the player is ten levels below the recommended level.
- Yellow Scroll: appears when the player is at the recommended level or is X levels above.
- Blue Scroll: appears when the player is X levels above the player's current level. Sometimes, it also appears when the quest was already undertaken before, such as the skill resuscitation quest.
After clicking the NPC, a window will pop up listing several options, depending on the type of NPC. Active NPCs, such as potion sellers, blacksmiths, and stable keepers, have the quest option listed first. Regardless of the NPC, it is listed as "1. Start converse." Clicking this will send you to a list of quests available from the NPCs. After choosing one, a series of background story will be given to you, ending with the option to "Accept" or "Refuse" the task.
While the quest is active, the scroll above the NPC's head changes color depending on the progress:
- Grey Scroll: appears when the quest is active.
- Gold Scroll: appears when the quest's tasks are finished.
